Directions

It’s easy to find us! We are located in the heart of Beacon, NY. You can drive (directions follow) or you can take a train. We are only a few minutes’ drive from the Metro North Train Station. If you come by train, you can catch a cab to our shelter.

From points North

Follow Route 9 south to Route 52 (Fishkill, NY). Turn right on Route 52 towards Beacon. Follow Route 52 for about 5 miles. Go through Beacon, and stay on Route 52 until it ends at Route 9D (Wolcott Avenue). Turn left on 9D and head south.  In about 1/8 mile, you will pass an Elk’s Club on your left and you’ll come to a traffic light. You will immediately cross a bridge over a small stream. The right immediately after the bridge is Simmons Lane. Turn right and follow Simmons Lane to the end. Go through the gates of the white fenced area and into the driveway of the shelter. Park in the lot in front of you. We are the red wooden building.

From Westchester and points south, you can either:

Take the Taconic to Route 84 West. Get off at exit 11 for Beacon. At the light, turn left. You’ll now be on Route 9D. Follow 9D for about 2 miles. You will pass an Elk’s Club on your left and you’ll come to a traffic light. You will immediately cross a bridge over a small stream. The right immediately after the bridge is Simmons Lane. Turn right and follow Simmons Lane to the end. Go through the gates of the white fenced area and into the driveway of the shelter. Park in the lot in front of you. We are the red wooden building.

Follow Route 9 North. At the fork with Route 403, take the left fork. This puts you on 403. Follow it to the end. At the light, turn right on 9D. Follow 9D through Cold Spring, up along the Hudson and into Beacon. After 9D curves west, toward the river, watch for Simmons Lane on your left. It’s right before a small bridge. Turn left and follow Simmons Lane to the end. Go through the gates of the white fenced area and into the driveway of the shelter. Park in the lot in front of you. We are the red wooden building.

From points East or West

Follow  Route 84 to exit 11 ( Beacon). Get off at exit 11 for Beacon and head south on Route 9D. Follow 9D for about 2 miles. You will pass an Elk’s Club on your left and you’ll come to a traffic light. You will immediately cross a bridge over a small stream. The right immediately after the bridge will be Simmons Lane. Turn right and follow Simmons Lane to the end. Go through the gates of the white fenced area and into the driveway of the shelter. Park in the lot in front of you. We are the red wooden building.
